Nokia Will be a giant computer manufacturer with different concepts ?
A lot of rumors coming about this mobile giant recently as they may expand some more new business as soon as possible.
Nokia is one of the old companies in the world as it is started it’s business in 1865 in a river bank as a wood-pulp mill.Yes Nokia’s first business was the paper industry. Then it changes into rubber and rubber product manufacturing after roughly hundred years (1967).
Nokia HQ
In 1960s it started to step in telecommunication area also and released first world’s portable phone in 1987. In 1990s it was a massive success ,even though the first mobiles are very expensive and per call costs 30 to 40 times than a normal land line call.
As it given continuous rapid growth It’s main focus became on Mobiles. .
Now all of us are eye witnessing the golden age of mobile phones .As like many others Nokia also aware that it also will not last another plenty of years. Thats why you can see a significant term changes in Nokia’s advertisement and events, “computer” human technology” “multimedia computer” are the main key words Nokia using more nowadays other than smart phones and mobiles.
I was doing my Deepawali shopping in Johor Barhu town located in Johor ,Malaysia yesterday. The interesting scene I frequently see is, some guys update their nature hair style to very modern style by adding some rope like objects,This time I requested them to take few shots of it,they agreed, thanks to them all. That what you see here.
Before you upgrade your phone to Nokia N96 please read the reviews as well as the user opinions all around the world
first of all Noike N96 is not a big leap after Nokia N95 8 GB (it has all the corrections from Nokia N95)if you are very much emphasize on the size of the screen ,all in functions like GPS,5 Mega pxel cam etc. Nokia N95 8Gb is enough to you. Nokia N96 have the following key features that Nokia N95’s dont have.
1)Inbuilt TV receiver
2)16 GB Memory
apart from this you don’t see any major different hardware wise,It is always a good practice , read the comparison of the phones and reviews before your buy a particular model. I changed by phone from Nokia N80 to N95 8Gb this year March and still I dont find much improved a phone to buy immediately as a tehcno fan, even though my day by day life mostly depend on mobile as I use it’s all functions.
N96 price is extremely high for the technology it offers as almost same like old N95. It is available from 700 Euro allaround the world now.I hope there will be a very big price drop sooner.
If you want to upgrade your phone to another model ,it is worth to wait for Nokia 5800 express music it has major hardware and software changes. Worth to wait for Nokia N series touch screen devices also like me.
please read and share your thoughts and experiences about nokia n 96 here (you also find lot of reviews)This forum is relaunched October 2008. Be fast to be first here..
Following is a User comment from one of the forums
” hm i find the n96 slightly uncreative, it looks like a stretched n81 to be honest. and they’re REALLY phasing out the pen key!
in comparison, n95 had its own unique identity, in terms of looks and technology”"
I agree with this comment. But the wonderful thing is at Nokia Forum Discussions, Some people are telling no problem with their N96 at all ,i hope they are not moderators of that forum.
I seen this from Nokia Official Forum
“Ill add my fuel to the fire. Its pathetic. I had a N95 (original not 8gb) which sadly died so it wasn’t unreasonable to expect the 96 would be at least as quick and a logical replacement. Its SO SLOW. Texting is close to impossible, it can take 3 seconds for each letter to appear.
The option to change font size doesn’t work
Ring tone reverts to default because the phone takes so long to find the selected mp3
When its released it should be ready, at the very least much better than this.”
Oh pity about this user. But you may have different experiences also, why dot you share with us.
The Poll is on now ,please cast your votes here.
Thanks for your valuable votes that will help lot of users to take a decision .

A update version with few bugs fixed released 25ht of October 08 ,Version number is 7.1.12.0,The mentioned functions with improved actions. Still under beta testing.
Hi Nokia Fans, The beta of PC Suit 7.1 is released today .it is very hot. await for the application for public use soon.
With Nokia PC Suite 7.1, you can:
- Manage your device calendar in the Calendar view of Nokia Communication Center
- Create and delete contact groups on your device, and add and remove group members
- Get a notification on your PC about a low device battery level
- Start calls and pick up incoming calls with Nokia Communication Centre
- Save device battery by setting off call, SMS and battery level notifications”(works with S60 FP2 Eg N79)
Most of this are the features of inbuilt Nokia Communication centre, just go through my article
“Nokia Comunication Centre Beta Release” here and find the same in the Nokia 7.1 ,it is mostly a combination of Nokia Pc Suite 7.0 (little changes) and Communication centre 2.0 (the splash screen says 1.0 dont worry find from the “about” are of help menu,it says version 2.0 )you can download it for free at beta labs.
Await more screen short to come
any questions please ask about this at www.pspezone.com (symbian discussion area )
Nokia communication centre has been updated this month ( 7th 0ctober 2008) VIa beta Labs . If you have the latest PC suite 7 which has the nokia communication centre inbuilt, but the latest release stand alone communication centre (beta) is much pretty as you can edit your calender entries in the pretty big computer screen. the earlier version doesn’t has calender feature, you can edit contacts and do all the sms communication ,but this one has sms, contacts and calender handling. it is much impressive part of nokia communication centre 2.
It loads the sms and your contacts plus the calender entry of the connected phone Via USB cable very fast ,comparing to the previous technology of the PC suite. (I cannot use blue tooth with Pc Suite 7.0.8.2 and my Nokia N95 8gb ,the connection is extremely slow and cannot perform most of the tasks )
You can download the beta release from Nokia’s Beta lab Web Site
Officially they mentioned this additions to this new release
Calendar editor
Contact group support
Contact thumbnail view
Performance improvements
Lots of bug fixes
I am happy with the calender editor as I mentioned above but the interface colour it not giving a good feeling ,may they update the interface colour in the future editions as it will be the easy way to identify the attributes of the entry by colours.
With this message editor sending message is more easire, all windows has search box ,so you can search messages ,contacts and calender entries very simply ,it is quiet faster way, here you are not moving your data to pc and do it,it all done in real time directly on the phone.
Calender is Now much big and easy to work with, remember when you work on your pc ,directly you are working with your phone. Thanks to CC.
(Google Mobile Email 2.0 Released this time ,after this reading feel free to visit our portal for Further reading and different logs : http://www.pspezone.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=21)
Google released their mobile Email Client for most of the phone platforms called Gmail mobile . I had a test run with my Nokia N95 8GB for couple of weeks. Already I tested the Gmail via the existing Nokia Email Client.
Mobile Gmail will not allow you to send attachments other wise it work fines in the native email client of my phone.
Here I mention about the Email Client (Mobile Gmail software) released by Google and the functions. Generally it is good. Loads faster comparing to Nokia Email
Simple and Cool user interface
Shortcut keys and intuitive menus
Search and find any Gmail message
It is free ,no need to pay for pop mails
The conversation view is good as the Gmail on the PC, The design optimized for the Mobile screen ,you can have a clear reading on your mails and mostly It has the inbuilt Office document viewer ,honestly I have checked Word Document only received as attachment,it opened in the email window and show the information, but the format changes according to the mobile . NO need to depend on Mobile Office to open the attachments
Gmail
Gmail Window
Gmail Menu View
Viewing and down loading the attached images perfectly same like gmail PC version, Easy to see and download.
The dis advantages
1) You cannot send attachments now,Google team says they will provide such feature soon
2) Exiting Time is little high,It takes around 12 Seconds after I press click exit in my Nokia N95 8GB
3) If you start it accidentally cannot close it as it requires network connection to start,if you refuse for it,it stuck !
Firefox getting more powers day by day. I am using Internet Explorer V.7 ,Firefox (Beta)3.0.3 and Google Chrome. I am downloading lot of software and mobile stuff every day as a heavy Internet user I have tested Internet explorer and fire fox ,Fire fox is the champion for downloading, I am using real player version 11,it integrates with Internet explorer and help me to save youtube video clips(Not supported to fire fox),that is the only reason i am still using IE ,other wise firefox is the best for the moment. Fire fox can download within the double speed of Internet download time.
Download Manager in Firefox
It has the inbuilt download manager that can pause/resume/cancel downloads, and you can Do and watch
multiple downloads in the same time .Right click on the download manager when down load going on for more related options. It is the most advanced feature and the main different from IE.
Still Fire fox is the best in Pc browsers.
I am not writing anything about Chrome as it is not stable and no need to worry about it yet.
Finally Nokia released their full touch screen phone. Nokia Xpressmusic 5800. Looks like apple and have Symbian 5th generation platform. S60 V 5. Visit Symbian Freak
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, a mid-range music-focussed phone, was launched today in London. It is Nokia’s first touch enabled S60 phone. It runs S60 5th Edition on Symbian OS 9.4, has a 3.2″ nHD (360 x 640) touch screen, WLAN and 3G connectivity, a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera, integrated A-GPSand accelerometer and proximity sensors. To underline its music potential, the 5800 has a standard 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers, ships with a 8GB microSDcard and will be one of the first phones to support Comes with Music (Q1 2009). It will be available worldwide in Q4 for 279 Euros (£215) before taxes and subsidies.
If you also a user of Nokia N95 8Gb or hold a very new Nokia N96 dont worry, this phone doesn’t make huge different as the touch screens exists for years, it is first time for nokia. We don’t loss much and we should wait to nokia come out with at least third edition of the phone with touchscreen in a high end line like N series as this phone is a mid range. The most of the capabilities are same with N95 and N96 except the touch screen and the 3.2″ Screen.
I am using Life blog for last two years and came thorough so many stages and some user experiences.. last year I was using N 80 I then Now I am using my new Nokia N95 8 GB.
I hold this mobile for last 5 months and going through each and every step of software upgrades and using the most of the support PC applications.
Nokia introduced the OVI suite that i hoped to replace the PC suite ,but after I installed the OVI I went through hard time as it is very slow and the interface not much friendly like lifeblog.
Life blog, OVI ,Then now Nokia Photos 1.5 the continuous similar software releases by nokia makes some confuses.
Life Blog 2.5
So far after using above three sync software I Found that for the media Synchronization , Life blog is the best for the moment. It is fast and very simple.
Avoid Complication
OVIprovides Sync locally with your computer’s OVI Suite and OVI web *(Calenders, contacts, notes) When you try all this you will have life blog ,pc suite and ovi sync setting profiles in your phone. It may cause you some conflict or data loses if you are not sure about every program.
My personal suggestion is better to use only one program life blog for the media files and sms sync, Nokia PC suite is for calender, contacts, notes sync.
As OVI Suite also provides the similar functions of PC suite plus Life blog(Combined ) I think you should have a very good PC or Lap top with min 1 GB Ram and Good High speed Pentium Processor (Mine is 2.4 GHZPentium IV and 512 MB RAM )to have a best result with OVI Suite.
Below the image showing NokiaPhotos 1.5 Map view ,where you can see your location tagged photos in the correct place. you can tag you images with the location information using nokia location tagger (fro nokia beta labs)then transfer to the Pcthen see on the map. you can see on the map within the phone also. It is damn slow as it is developed in .Net , You should have minimum 1 GB of Ram to have a smooth run. In my Sony Vaio PIV Laptop, The nokia photos closed automatically many times. Nokia N series PC Suite also the slowest as it developed in .Net. Time to upgrade PC hardware to enjoy the mobile enhancements !
(I am playing with Nokiaphotos for days and I started to feel better , wait for my user experience with nokia Photos 1.5 Soon.)
Edited on 30th October 2008
As I said in my first post here,I went through nokia photos 1.5 and find something new and something not .
Nokia Photos can display your photos with your location information and a good map view for it. But at all It sucks ,when there is a very user friendly and high functionality lifeblog is existing ,I hope they would have released an updated version of lifeblog with location maping facility. I hope the main reason behind this is ,the life blog might be a third party software ,in order to dominate the market nokia plans to provide it’s own software. (may be tru or not)
OVI suite also have few bugs that I dont report here
My vote finally for everlasting Life blog .
